The E.B.S.A has just announced the appointment of PJ Nolan from the Republic of Ireland as a senior coach within the European Billiards & Snooker Coaching Foundation.
PJ said this week : It is a great honour for me to become a senior coach in the E.B.S.A. Coaching foundation and I would like to build on the success achieved by Terry and Wayne Griffiths since the foundation was started in 2004.
I would like to thank the EBSA Board and Terry and Wayne Griffiths for having the confidence in selecting me to become part of the EBSA Coaching Foundation. PJ Nolan has over 20 years of coaching experience. He has worked across Europe and Asia in his roles of National Coach to the Republic Of Ireland and Qatar in the Middle East.
During the 2009 European Under 19 and Team Championships in Russia, PJ conducted EBSA coaching seminars offering players and coaches an opportunity to views his coaching skills and practice his training programs.
PJ believes, if coaches can train their players in a specific training program then the improvement in the players overall game will maximised.
In March 2009 The New Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow opened an official EBSA Coaching Academy of Excellence and PJ believes this development will bring snooker coaching into the 21st Century in Europe.
This academy will offer students from across Europe the opportunity to travel to Ireland and receive professional training and coaching. All the training sessions will be video recorded and each day the student will receive a DVD of the lesson to study and this will become a coaching resource when they arrive back home.
PJ said : In my new role of EBSA senior coach I will be available full time to train coaches to become qualified EBSA coaches. I will also be available to train players in Ireland and across Europe.
My goal for the EBSA coaching foundation is to maintain the current structures and develop a new official EBSA training program..
The EBSA have set out to establish a network of qualified snooker coaches throughout Europe with the help of Terry Griffiths and Wayne Griffiths and now with the appointment of PJ Nolan
The EBSA hopes that a Coaching Foundation in each of the member countries will help to spread the awareness and availability of coaching which, in turn, will promote interest and participation and will go a long way towards cementing snookesr’s future in Europe.
