This morning, the quarter finals took place and we have our semi finals line ups.
Jamie Clarke of Wales raced to a 3-0 lead against Adam Stefanów (Poland) before Adam was left any decent opportunities to score. Adam won 2 of the next 3 before Jamie sealed a 5-2 win with a fine 68.
Scotland’s Chris Totten beat Poland’s other quarter finalist Kacper Filipiak 5-3. The first four frames were high scoring one sided frames shared evenly between the players, Chris opening with a 95 break and Kacper countering with a useful 56. Kacper took a 3-2 lead in the fifth frame, but Chris knuckled down and restricted his opponent to a total of 55 points in the next 3 frames.
Andrew Pagett of Wales took a tense opening frame against Oliver Brown (England) after which Oliver fired in 3 strong frames and an 87 break to hold a 3-1 interval lead. Andrew tied the match with breaks of 55 and 61 after the restart but went behind in frame 7. The final two frames were both close but went in favour of the Welshman, 5-4 the final score.
Estonian Andres Petrov booked his place in the second semi by beating Irishman John Farrell 5-2. Nicely poised at 2-2 at the interval, Andres played some excellent snooker in the next few frames, finishing off with a timely break of 80.
