A World Class Product from a World Class Referee

What a fantastic career with the white gloves. The EBSA caught up with Desislava to talk about her New Inovative Snooker Triangle that she has developed and her brilliant career as a top class Referee.

“I started Refereeing at Bulgarian events in May 2012 and by the end of the same year I took the exam for an international Class 3 referee.

Thanks to the President of the Bulgarian Snooker Federation Oleg Velinov we had PTC events and EBSA European Championship in Sofia that gave me the start of my career”.

“For the next couple of years I was juggling between the University and Snooker Events. I refereed at the EBSA event in Serbia in 2013, Romania 2014, Bulgaria 2014, Malta 2015 and Czech Republic 2015. It is a great start for a referee because you are part of the snooker atmosphere for two weeks straight. Everyday there is a new situation and something new to learn. You are surrounded by experienced referees who are not shy to help you out”.

“I was also doing almost every PTC and was invited to more and more events by WST. Since then I have learnt a lot by listening to the assessors.I have refereed 13 finals for WST and I am grateful I had the opportunity to referee all Triple Crown Finals with the biggest one, last year’s Halo World Championship”.

“Over the last two years I have been working on creating an accurate and reliable snooker triangle for snooker referees. I designed the model with a lot of thought. It had to be easy to handle; small enough to fit a laptop bag; to align perfectly with the cushion and the black spot; to roll absolutely straight; to land the reds the closest possible to the pink spot and of course to not break easily. It is all one piece, made by a material that is strong enough to resist many years of usage and traveling”.

EBSA President Maxime Cassis was delighted to see this new venture for Desislava he said “Desislava is a fantastic snooker person, she refereed for many years at EBSA European events and has developed her knowledge and skill of refereeing to the very highest level. We at the EBSA wish her every success with her new support for Referees all over the World, we are sure that it will be a huge success”.
