Darren Morgan successfully defends his European Seniors’ title

Darren Morgan maintained his perfect record in European Senior individual Championships finals. The Welshman had to dig deep to beat Gary Milne (England) 5:3 and win the 2023 European Senior title in Albena (Bulgaria).

Morgan’s run to the final was more of a walk in the park with just one lost frame but against Milne the former pro had to work hard. After opening with a break of 60 and leading 2:0 the Welshman lost the next three frames to find himself trailing for the first time in the whole tournament.

In the sixth Morgan potted a long red and cleared up to the blue to level the score. In the seventh in a 40-minute long tactical battle with a score tied at 47 Milne attempted a blue to the corner with a rest that never looked in only to watch the champion pot it from distance into the green pocket and clear the table.

And in the eighth trying to lay a snooker Milne left the yellow to the top corner and could only watch helplessly from the chair as Morgan expertly cleared up to the pink to secure the win.
