Poland making some steam

The record 19 players from the host nation at the 2016 EBSA Men European Snooker Championships at the Wroclaw’s Haston City Hotel says it all about Poland’s passion for snooker.

The country that hosts these championships for the fifth time has more than 150 players competing regularly in national tournaments and already lifted the European U21 title with Kacper Filipiak in Malta 2011 event.

Adam Stefanow, Krzystof Wrobel, Mateusz Baranowski, Kamil Zubrzycki and Patryk Maslowski are some of the rising stars from a country who’s improvement in the last 20 years is astounding but they still hope that this year be their year to win the men’s event.

The 12 years old Antoni Kowalski and the 44 years old national association President Piotr Murat are also playing in 2016 EBSA Men European Snooker Championships and their generation gap highlights the polish love for the game.

The President stated that Snooker is going through a ‘boom’ and it’s good to see so many youngsters playing the game.

«We’re battling to have a European Champion soon» told us a proud and enthusiastic Piotr Murat.
