Second gold for Darren Morgan as Wales 1 wins Seniors’ title
Darren Morgan got his second gold medal of the 2023 European Championships in Albena (Bulgaria) after winning Seniors’ Team title alongside Philip Williams. After getting the individual honors a week ago, Morgan was the driving force for the Welsh 5:1 win over England 1.
Wayne Brown put England on the board first but Williams countered with a break of 88 (the highest of the tournament) to level the score. Morgan and Williams fired a 72 to put Wales in front and after Morgan’s 43 in frame 4 it was a one-way traffic.
Wales 1 completed the win in under three hours playing time with Ireland 1 (John Farrell/Mark Tuite) and England 2 (Stephen Delaney/Graham Beardmore) getting the bronze medals.
