2020 U18 Snooker Championships started in style

Sunny Albufeira gave a big welcome this morning to the players in the 2020 EBSA European Snooker Championships, who started this morning in  the Salgados Palace Hotel with 70 competitors playing on 16 tables in the venue.

In this morning meeting session, EBSA’s chairman, Maxime Cassis, and Portuguese association president, Ricardo Salgado, gave a warm welcome to everyone and because of the covid-19 outbreak, the traditional handshake will be replaced by  ‘fist touch’ as the new official salute of this Championships, as a precaution. All measures were taken, and only the italian and israeli players cancelled their participation in the four events that will take place until the 22th in Algarve.

«Good luck to you all» was the common wish expressed either by portuguese and EBSA’s main officials, in front of a crowded room, with the youngsters tournament (Under 18) giving the tone for two dream weeks in prospect for snooker lovers who want to became professionals and develop their skills.. 70 players in 14 groups of 5 in Round-Robin will compete with the top 3 in each group – going through to the knock-out stage, until Tuesday 10th. The party started in style.
