Irish eyes will be smiling in Sofia

The Republic of Ireland will have a unique team in Sofia at the European Championships because it will be the first time Ireland will have a Father and Son playing together as Stephen and Daniel Merrigan cue it up together representing Snooker & Billiards Ireland.
This has happend before when Alex and Issac Borg from Malta became the very first Father and Son Combination to play in a European Championship in Albufriera in Portugal a couple of years ago, but the Merrigans set a new story for Irish Snooker this September.
Both Stephen and Daniel are both excellent players and hail from the Roadstone Club in Dublin. Stephen has represented the Republic of Ireland in Senior events over 20 times and has a high break of 136.Stephen was the 2022 Iish National Super Senior Champion.
Daniel revisits the Country where he made his Internationl debut in 2023 so he will look forward to Bulgaria. Like most top class players Daniel took up the game at just five years of age on a small table and now he sits high in the Irish Rankings and has represented Ireland many times with a 138 higb break.
Its great to see the family connections on the Euroean Snooker Platform and it will be great for the Merrigan family to have the opportunity to share this rare ocassion.
