Heusdens makes it 2 out of 3 in Belgium RankingLast weekend the third Belgium Ranking of the season was played in Snookerpalace (Brugge) and Masters (Harelbeke).  The tournament had a 128 participants, Peter Bullen had the high break with 128.
With 3 out of the top 4 seeds away on international duty at the IBSF World Championships in Latvia, there was a good opportunity for the players to increase their ranking points at this event for the one year ranking list.
2 players from the local area who started in the first qualifying round both managed to get through after winning 6 consecutive matches to get into the last 32 where Lieven Vanthournout faced his fellow club member Nick Vanhee (5) and Geert Herrewyn played seed nr 2, Tom De Wit. Both players put their winning sequence further by beating their opponents 3-0 and 3-1 to claim their spot in the last 16.
In the last 16 Tan Wang Chooi (Andy), who again showed consistent form, faced top seed Peter Bullen. In his earlier match against Bjorn Kaerts he made a 113 break. Andy took the first frame with a break of 50. Then former Belgian champion Peter Bullen replied taking the next 3 frames with an excellent 128 break in the second frame to win the match 3-1. Building on a 2-0 lead against Tim Jonckers (4), a break of 48 in the third frame secured a place in the next round for David Mens . Previous event winner Jurian Heusdens booked his place in the quarter finals after beating Rene Hemelsoet 3-1.

European Masters Team finalists Peter Bullen and Mario Van Herk came head to head in the quarter finals. Peter took a 3-0 lead with a 52 break in the third frame before Mario replied with a 50 break in the fourth to claim the next. He went on to make a break of 44 in the fifth but this was not enough to overcome Peter who also had a break of 40 in the same frame to win the match 4-1. Although Steve Lambrechts put up a spirited fight against Jurian, breaks of 90,69,43 and 42 where enough to get a 4-2 result for Jurian. In the other quarters Guy Hendrickx ended Geert Herrewyns good run with breaks of 53 and 44 to win 4-1 and Chris ‘t Syen booked his semi-final spot with the same result against David Mens.
In the semis Hendrickx took the first frame against Heusdens with a break of 60 before Heusdens took the next 3 with breaks of 99 and 59 to take a 3-1 lead.  Guy fought back to take the fifth frame before Jurian took the sixth to win the match 4-2. In the other semi-final the first two frames where shared before Peter showed he had the better form to make a 4-1 result against Chris.

In a very close and exciting final, youngster Jurian Heusdens faced his much more experienced mind coach Peter Bullen.  Peter opened the scores to make it 1-0. Jurian levelled the scores with a 40 break before Peter took the next. In the fourth Jurian levelled again with a break of 54. Jurian nudged ahead by taking frame 5 before Peter again levelled the scores with a 48 break to make it 3-3. The next two frames were shared after breaks of 44 and 38 to go into the decider. In the decider Jurian kept his nerves together to win the frame on the pink.
