No surprises: Wales 1 to face England 1 in the Seniors’ final

It wasn’t always smooth sailing but the top two seeds both reached the 2023 European Seniors Team Championships final. Wales 1 and England 1 featured all the medalists form the individual event and it was no surprise that the last match of the tournament will be between them.

Wales 1 fell behind against England 2 after Darren Morgan lost the opening frame on the black against Graham Beardmore but Philip Williams quickly leveled the score after a 46 break. In the doubles Morgan and Williams constructed a nice 42 to put the Welsh ahead and just over 60 minutes later the match was over – 4:1.

In the meantime, England 1 was involved in a gigantic tussle with Ireland 1. With both teams struggling with potting, Mark Tuite was the only one with a significant break – 51 in the fifth frame. But by then was far ahead after winning the opening three frames on the black and Irish bid for comeback fell short – 2:4.
