Tenth title for Jans

Tenth title for Jans

Belgium’s Wendy Jans secured her tenth EBSA European Ladies Championship title after beating Daria Sirotina of Russia in the final 5-4.

The best-of-9 final in Vilnius between the two in-form ladies was a tense affair, extending way into the night, as Jans and Sirotina buckled down and gave it their all. After winning the first two frames, courtesy of a 42 break, it seemed like Jans will continue her great stride and quickly dispatch of Sirotina. It was not to be, as the Russian 22-year-old piled in a 40 break of her own to make it 2-1. Having split the next frames one each, it was Sirotina who stole the sixth one and got it back to 3-3. Neither of the competitors let their foot off the gas as the score reached 4-4. Jans, however, proved there is ice in her veins, as the 32-year-old Belgian persevered in yet another decider this week in Vilnius to add her tenth Ladies title to her growing title collection.
